Shown here are several examples of items that may easily be mistaken for open salts. The original intention of the maker, however, was a different item entirely.
That's not to say some of these don't fit in perfectly in open salt collections because they do...and we all have them. But if you research, you may find answers
that have nothing at all to do with open salts.
Shown below are some pictures gathered from the internet that are actually Salt and pepper shaker holders (Some have tall handles), Vinegar and oil cruet holders (Some have tall handles), Jelly and jam dishes (Note the fruit handles), Mustards, Cigarette lighters, Egg cups with salt shaker, Small sugars with creamers, Ashtrays, Cordials, And even some broken items that make terrific open salts!
